Nicholas Christakis has spent some time thinking in social contagion, a phenomena comparable with regime shifts in social systems. Recent work of Christakis and colleges includes Cooperative behavior cascades in human social networks (in PNAS) and Social networks sensors for early detection of contagious outbreaks. His finding inspires thinking on the evolution of norms for natural resource management and propose strategies for contagion disease prevention. The second is nicely explained in the video above.
